I'm pleased to be offering a new Puppy Play Hour on Saturdays over at the new Mutty Paws Dog Day Care in South Portland.  I'm teaming with the owner, Kris Klinges, to offer a great new experience for new puppy owners.  They get to be IN the group WITH the pups and will learn how to interpret play behaviors, supervise their pup's play safely and stop unwanted behaviors. Perfect!  And...it's FREE if you need it to be.  We will be collecting donations for worthy pet-related causes from week-to-week, but there's no obligation to contribute.  Group starts on Saturday 2/4 at 2 p.m.!  Click the link below and you'll be taken to Kris' site for Mutty Paws, where you can find directions to his awesome ORANGE building!!

Beginning on 1/16/12 DWD will now be offering a Returning Retrievers Romp Class on Mondays!  The class filled amazingly quickly when the word went out....and 30 Labrador and Golden Retrievers who graduated from DWD as wee pups will be returning to romp this winter.  Oh my!  We'll totally have our hands full, won't we?  This class is open ONLY to dogs who trained here as pups, and space is limited.  Email if you want to be on the waiting list for a spot!

Sorry for the inconvenience, but the Pack Leader needs to have a little surgery....

The Playground

Your puppy will enjoy romping in our state-of-the-art playground designed specifically for the social and developmental needs of growing pups.  Tunnels, ramps and stairways manufactured by Puppy Playground, Inc. aid in the development of strong musculature and teach essential skills.  Pea stone and river rock provide a gentle footing for tender paws while boulders offer "lookout posts" and hiding places.  A 12x12 sandbox is a constant source of digging adventures, as the pups enjoy rooting around for the many Nylabones hidden under the surface!  In warmer months, a wading pool invites pups to get comfortable around water....and offers a place to cool off.  Water games such as "dunking for carrots" and "bobbing for apple chunks" encourage pups to get their snouts wet!  Pups love the opportunity for high-speed running around the walking paths surrounding the outer perimeter of the playground.  In colder months, the playground is turned into a "Snow City" with snow-blown pathways and mountains offering fun and adventure.
